So in my 50 gallon tank I have 2 mono argentus 1 baby red scat, 1 columbian catfish shark, 1 moray eel, 1 fiddler crab, 5 nerite snails

the baby red scat keeps being an ******* and chasing the monos around. The shark just hangs out in the corner all day so he doesn't get bothered.
He was actually being good and was friends with everyone for awhile but now he started being a jerk again.
I've tried turning the power on my HOB filter all the way up for max water circulation and that usually works for awhile but he eventually goes back to his evil self eventually.

any ideas?

Increase the school size - scats always act up when they're alone. They still might be a bit boisterous, but nothing that you could call 'aggressive'.

So you think I should get another baby red scat?

I was thinking about getting more Monos too. I originally had 4 but two died. I heard they work best in big schools. Right now one mono is a lot bigger than the other one so he picks on the small one. The small just hangs out and hides by himself. Maybe if I got more they would all swim together or atleast the aggression would be spread out.

Typically, the more Scats you have, the less they think of annoying other fish, as they have thier own school to mess around with. Giving him a friend would be great, but the minimum I'd give for a school is 3.

Monos also much prefer to be in a school, but like you've noticed, the larger ones will pick on the smaller ones, so it is advisable to buy like-sized specimens to try keep the bullying down. Getting more for the school may help but ultimately the bigger fish will always be dominant.

The red scat is not really being so aggressive anymore. He has his occasional bursts but there are more and more times when all three fish hang out together. The shark still swims in the top corner like he's trying to get out, I think he's trying to school with his reflection.

if you get more monos and scats i would say you get a larger tank as well

At what point do you think my 50 gallon would become overstocked? I would like to get a Silver Scat because I like them but I would also like to probably get another Mono at some point. I've also heard I should keep scats in groups of three if grouped. Basically if I got 2-3 more fish would my tank be overstocked?

50 gallon long tank- water level lowered for fiddler crabs- probably 45 gallons in it.

1 g.tile
1 ruby scat
2 Mono Argentus
1 columbian catfish shark
5 nerite snails
1 fiddler crab (looking to get one more to be his friend, the eel ate most of them)
(probably going to get 4 blue legged hermits today)

How long were they housed together ? I keep 6 mono's and 3 red scats together... the Scat's show no agression... one of the mono's is king of the tank... most of the time all 9 of them school together... until feeding time when the mono's have had there fill and move on Scat's on the other hand will not stop untill everything that can be eaten has been eaten lol
