Why is my black aro so shy?

Why is my black aro so shy. i bought him at a LFS and he had balls. he would cruise and not care about anything. now hes chicken. more skittish than a skittle. i have the tank in the dining room and theres mild to high traffic there.
can anyone help me?

Give him a few days until he gets used to it. Does he have any tank mates?

maybe the tankmates are bullying him
with there is no tankmates, he is still getting use to the enviroment. just give him time;

well hes been in the tank for about 2 weeks. and the only tankmates are a band of bichirs, so hes got the top half of the tank to himself. usually most of the fish i have take a week max to come outa their shell. this guy has yet to do so. but he did eat outa my hand a couple times.
