Adding any new cichlid, to a tank where another cichlid has established a territory (the severum), puts the new guy at a disadvantage, and the new guy knows it.
New cichlid interlopers are often killed, or badly damaged by the turf owners.
Sometimes it just takes time.
Sometimes you need to rearrange the furniture to eliminate previous territorial lines.
