So my parrot is swimming up and down like trying to swim through the glass or something and its not begging for food or anything it's like attacking the side of the tank and I'm across the room, do you think it's attacking it's reflection? Or what? I have a 55 gallon and she's about 5 inches ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1339046184.278775.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1339046192.872718.jpg

Fish do this when stressed, or bored. could be tank siZe, lack of cover, water quality etc

x2. some say the fish cant see a reflection in their tank... i disgaree with this.. but imo its stress related. is the fish actually attacking? or just "paceing" ?

Puffers are known to constantly do it without enough to explore, boredom. But also if a fish is uncomfortable but healthy they will do this, either due to tank size or larger/more aggressive fish bothering them, even if they are not aggressive, just present.

My fish always do this after a water change. I think it is a sign of being content. Fish just sitting in one place is what I don't like to see.

My Piranha does this a lot. When I come down my hall way and he sees me he always does this and usually follows me around as much as he can. He also does it sometimes when I am not close to the tank. I generally think of it as a good thing, but after learning a few things I wonder if some of it is stress. He doesn't have really any cover yet, and his tank is too small. But I feel the same as the last poster, at least they are moving around, even if they might be a bit worried. If your tank is optimal and he eats his food you probably don't really have anything to worry about.

If his fins are clean imo its likely dominance related.. the term "Tank banger" didn't result from fish that like to head bang.. some particularly aggressive fish will litteraly bang into the tank walls due to aggression. cichlids are notoriouse for this. i would try moving your deco around or changeing it up abit to give him something to do other that smash his face against the glass... which btw can do some damage, sometimes fatally. particularly if an open sore from rubbing gets infected. I had an Oscar that did this until I gave him some caves to explore and lord over.
