Ok so i have used this filter for lets say less than 6 months or so was working great. Flow is excellent.

Now all of a sudden i can hear sounds from the filter kind of like knocking. Almost like it is trying to prime. I also noticed bubbles coming out of the out valve.

What i do is turn off the filter. I can hear bubbles like its trying to let all the air out. I wait about 5 minutes and then turn it back on. It works great for about 3 to 4 hrs and then i can hear the sounds again.

I noticed this started happening since i added a bubble disc. I have a 180 gallon 6 foot tank. The bubble disc is in the middle of the tank and the in-valve is to the right. I moved it further away and the bubbles are no where close.

First i thought the bubbles were getting sucked up in the filter but i moved it further away. They are about 2 feet away.

I notice small bubbles i think they are called micro bubbles coming out of the out valve. Maybe that is what is causing the issue? I'm going to try to turn off my air pump all together first to see if that will solve the issue, however if you have other suggestions i don't mind trying.

Btw i have another FX5 of the left end of the tank which is working fine.

You prabably still have air in the filter. Reprime it....

Well it was running just fine up until recently. I haven't even disconnected it at all so that's why i think its not that its priming.

un plug...re plug into the wall...it will fix its self. do u have an airstone near the intake?

My FX5 is making excessive bubbling in my marine aquarium.I read on an FX5 forum that when the black filter sponge gets clogged it causes micro bubbles as well. The FX5 is a very efficient filter, and it can suck in suspended air bubbles from as far away as four feet. For a first step ensure there are no other appliances in the aquarium.

Do you have any of the round polishing pads in any of the trays? They get dirty fast and restrict the flow of water causing micro bubbles.

I only see fine bubbles when either the blue pre cut filter pad gets clogged or one of the substrate baskets is clogged.
