It looked cool at first when it was sprouting out but now its just out of control and looks messy and way overgrown.
Any help guys this is my first tank ive ever had and I am just tryin to learn thanks for the help
You might want to add what kind of plant you bought it as, and where you bought it? Are you sure that the plant itself is growing that, and that another string algae or moss isnt growing on the plant?
I am not sure the species of the plant and it is growing from the plant it was sprouting in small strings about 45 days ago and it has just become more out of control every day
That's algae, remove the stems "infected" it. It will take over the entire tank if you don't do anything to it. Also it's not a part of your plant.
In this case what do you recommend the plant is pretty well taken over by this if i just trim the plant short will this cause the plant to die or will it be okay?
The plant that you have looks like a water onion (Crinum Thaianum). Hair algae is common on the tops of those guys. Not exactly sure how to get rid of it and keep it off besides cutting it off. I would do some digging on google to see how to healthily keep these free of hair algae.
