I have a medium size pleco and I woke up this morning and found his right fin turning white...I don't know if it is some form of fin and tail rot...I added some aquarium salt to see if that helps...does anyone have any ideas?

What species is this pleco? What are your water parameters? Tank size? Tankmates? Pics? Did you dissolve the salt when you add it?

I believe it is a common pleco, the water parameters are where they are supposed to be, its a 125 gallon with a 9 inch male, 7 inch female dovii, 30 dovii fry, and another common pleco. I dissolved the salt before adding it as well. And I will get pics up as soon as I can.

Are you sure your doviis never bit the fins and left the fins infected? If it has white edges, then it is certainly finrot. Isolate the pleco and do water changes for a week. If this does not improve, treat with Maracyn.

The dovii have nipped at him and he's been in there for almost a year with them and never anything like this and I don't have another tank to isolate him in. Should I treat with Maracyn and aquarium salt?
