The water quality is fine and theres not a lot of waste on the bottom of the tank. I've been doing 40% water changes a week. It seems to be getting more and more green every day. My parents are starting to hate me because the way it looks but I keep telling them its fine. The only thing I can think of is too much aeration and its some weird algae? I have 1 large sponge filter thats supposed to be for a 80+ gallon tank and I have it in a 60g but I don't think thats the problem. I put a powerhead in there to see if it would help but I think it made it worse. I'm thinking about taking the sponge filter, and powerhead out to see if it clears up. What could it be?

Too much direct sunlight. Blackout for a week...The technique is easy would you like to know it? Or do you already know?

Far too much light and available free nuteriants. Cut your feeding in half and leave the tank lights off for at least a week. Cover the tank during the daytime or at least make sure any windows in the room are covered.

The water changes your doing are making the problem worse so stop them until the tank clears. If you have any plants in the tank you will have to remove them until the water clears.

This problem developes quickly but fortunatly it can also be cured quickly and prevented.

I knew it was something simple and I was thinking it could be from sunlight but every tank I've ever had that got overrun by sunlight had algae growing on the walls, this is just green water. I'm also having this problem in one of my tanks in the dark basement, but not as bad. I'm not really understanding that at all. Could it be the light I have on the tank?

It's most likely both...When you have algee on the GLASS there is a much lower level of free nutriants in the water...

When the water itself is turing green it's because the algee can basicly be lazy and float around...picking up all the food they want.

If you forget to turn the lights off always. Maybe high phosphates?

like last night.. I always feed them before I go to sleep and fall asleep before they finish eating. I guess I'll just turn the light on when I want to feed them. What if I got a blacklight for the tank?

I miss these days..
