MY WATER RECENTLY TURNED GREEN IM THINKING IT MAYBE JUST CYCLING BUT SINCE I HAVE A HIGH pH AND A HIGH ALKALINITY LEVEL AND DONT KNOW IF THAT MAYBE RELATED :nilly:

PLEASE HELP I HOPE ITS JUST A CYCLE

Do you have any driftwood in the tank?

How long has the tank been up?

You don't need to type in all caps by the way, it is hard on the eyes.

The green water is a filamentus algae bloom. It is not part of cycling. This type of bloom usually begins as a white cloud which can be mistaken for a bacteria bloom during cycling. Regardless, it is usually caused by an elevated level of phosphate and/or nitrate. A very large water change 75% or so without gravel/filter cleaning is advisable. Blacken out the tank for a few weeks after and the bloom should die off. An easier remedy is to use a UV sterilizer, which will kill the algae but will not remedy the cause.
