OK so i got my hystrix ray on wednesday, and all she does is burie her self in the courner, why??
Tank mates,
8 inch silver arow,
2-2inch convicts
5-4-6inch redhooks
2 inch GT
2-3inch severums
1 5 inch make jade eye
and a tire track eel,

Do you think she is scared of her new tank mates? as she was in a tank all of her own, before i got her, i managed to get her to eat like 20worms last night, so she is feeding and he color looks normal. so is she jsut scared??

You can always try the lights out for a few days and see if that helps settle her in quicker. I know it is suppose to help take some of the stress off when introducing new fish to a tank.

IMO..

Rays first.

Cichlids later.

Territority and stress could be a major issue. She might be havin a hard time settling in, and the Cichlids might mistake some burried eyeballs for snails, and CHOMP CHOMP CURL.. :( Be careful!

:iagree: with all the posts!!

never new that, spose that would be the same with lots of fish that eat rays. be a shame if that happened

all new rays take a time to adjust to their new surroundings... turn the lights off for a few days and that will help reduce stress on her.

Good news guys she has started to come out and about now, thanks for all the help:);)
