This Morone saxatilis (Striper) is burnt orange. Why? Is it preserved?

How odd, after trying the direct link in FF it shows up in all the posts(OP and quoted) in FF but I get the big red x in IE :screwy: . Even shows after clearing cookies, browsing history, cache:screwy:

Well any way, I guess I can be nice, since it works for me I saved bottomfeeders pic to my pc and added it as an attachment. Hope this works for every one.

All of those fish are dead, so it is likely something related to that. The red could be a result of a bacterial attack that caused the capillaries in the skin to rupture (like in septicemia).

...or maybe they are the ones that didn't make it from being dyed.

They're just discolored from being preserved. Fish that have spent years (or sometimes just weeks) in formalin or another preservative will often become very pale or otherwise discolored
