I have a mated pair of Red Severums. The Female has laid eggs at least 6 times. Two times with this current male.Four previous times with a male that was infertile.(previous post "Is it worth a try").I was watching the female lay her eggs for the second time with this male tonight. As she was laying her eggs the male wanted no part of breeding. He would not do his deed.He was actually eating some of the eggs, until the female finally chased him away.Shes still trying to keep him away.He has eaten about half of the eggs the female laid.Feel sorry for her.First she gets an infertile male, then this male who wants no part of breeding.Right now she's fanning the eggs and trying to keep the male away. His breeding tube did drop. He's about the same size as the female, maybe a little bigger.Never seen this happen before. Its usually the male that wants to breed all the time.Any advice?

Only things I can think of is that he is either infertile or has zero breeding experience. I've had some weird behavior like this in rams, where an inexperienced male will bring on courtship but won't fertilize. Hopefully round 2 goes a little more smoothly but otherwise I have nothing to offer but good intentions.
