Why Pikes

I'm curious why the folks here keep pikes. Don't get me wrong, actually this is the go-to place to discuss Crenicichla. No other forum comes close. No one else considers themselves a 'Pike Whisperer' as I do....well besides Peanut.

I'll start with my goal. My intent is to breed every species of Crenicichla that I encounter. Whether intentionally or by accident.

So be honest why you forsake a large part of your fishroom or tanks to keeping these wonderful beasts.

A hot item and hard to come by?

I like them for what they are, the ultimate aggressive predator ready to do battle whith any fish that defies it, flaring out its gills and spreading its gorgeous fins wide. oh well i am getting emotional. i think its because:
I prefer long cilinder like fish.
they have an attitude.
They are gorgeous,
Make territories which they gaurd over any fish.
they are not constantly out of sight,
they are cichlids.
Aggresive predators
Very intelligent and responsive.
cute face and great personality.
and lastly because i can keep them in my tank!
i also enjoy that they are not as trendy as say a BR (Bolivian ram).
 
so why do we like pikes ? whats not to like

i love them all the pikes i've kept allways come to the front of the glass to see me and beg for food when ever i put food in the tank the pikes are all ways first all the pikes i've kept were this way there very predatory and eat a ton plus the look cool and some have awesome colors theres alot to like i've even been able to hand feed my sveni

John, definately!! I've come down with the sickness, and it consumed me completely!! EAT, SLEEP, BREATHE CRENICICHLA!! :D
