Why running 2x the filters is the best...
So this morning (5am getting ready to go to work) my 300 gallon tank was a little louder than usual so I check on the filters (2x Eheim 2262) and one just didn't sound right. After messing with it real quick I found that the output hose was kinked just enough to stop the flow but not so that it was real obvious.
I replaced the connector hose with a longer (Looped) hose to the PVC plumbing and the flow returned.
Bad part is I had no idea how long the filter had been like that since it wasn't all that loud. So, shortly after the flow returned the tank turned black.. OMG The filter died and now has fouled up my tank.
So, Obviously I had no choice but to do a 95% water change and flush the dead crap out of the cannister. And, all this before 7am.
I am really glad I am over filtering that tank with redundant filters now.
