I have had a GT 4.5" for about 3 weeks now and he refuses to eat pellets. All the other fish eat the veraciously, but he doesn't seem interested, he will eat frozen foods, but i need to get him on pellets. he waits for the other fish to get the pellets then crush them in their throats and he eats the little crumbs and picks at algae. How can i get him on to pellets, this is getting kinda annoying.

starve him if you want him on pellets. i had to starve my midas today for the whole of 6hrs before it broke and it started eating the new floating pellets i bought. same brand just floating instead of sinking pellets.
im sure your gt will take longer than 6hrs but it will happen. give your fish a day or two without food and then throw in some pellets. if that doesnt work go a few more days. but the key is no frozen/live foods during this time. he will eventually take the pellets.

Hi,
We have a GT the same he eats live but is refusing pellets but he also looks down in the dumps. it was suggested to us on the forum that we have too many fish in our tank!
Dont think we have, not at the moment anyway all fish are still relatively small.
If you crack it let us know!!

my lfs told me to add garlic to the food. it worked for my lionfish dunno about freshwater. The starving strategy worked great for my oscar though :D

please list tank size and stock.

Garlic extract can work wonders. Just make sure you don't spill any of it, that stuff is strong.

i have not fed him frozen food in at least a week or two, and he gets by on the crumbs from my convicts, and algae, lol he is such a weirdo, but i guess ill try to starve all of them for a few days, the cons wont be happy, but that is what ill do.
