I bought him at 2" and his bottom fins were torn a little. Now he's about 4" and his bottom fin still looks like the day that I bought him. The edges of he torn fin is black. Why won't they grow back?

What kind of tank mates is he with, and if you haven't I would definetly add aquarium salt. And if he's kept by himself I would add mela fix and Pima fix, his fins will grow back in no time
His tank mates are a 3" albino senegul, 6" synodontis featherfin, 3" angelfish. It's been like that since I bought him. Now that's almost a month ago.
the fins are to far damaged they chewed it back to the bone. when they are damaged that bad most times they will not grow back in the right way. they may heal in but do to damage in the end of the bone structure they may grow back deformed
