ive had my payara for a week and a half, and moved him into his new home (125 gal) about 3-4 days ago, i just put some feeders in and he won't eat them. is something wrong or do i just need to wait a little longer?

Yep,just wait and leave him alone. They dont take well to being disturbed and moved.Which one do you have.

i have a payara scomb, and every time i walk into my room and look at the tank i notice 1 missing fish and alot of left overs such as guts, half a head or just some guts. i've had to remove countless amounts of small fish bits. and after watching some payara eating videos, i don't think that they are very messy eaters.

They usually are'nt when it comes to feeders, they mainly snatch and swallow.Maybe the feeders are a little big for the scombs.

i got the smallest feeders and its a 7" scomb, i went in there and pulled out yet some more fish remains and found one where he tore the insides out and left everything else. i know it was him because on the fishes gill plate there are distinct teeth holes with the bottom where i could tell his fangs were is where everything was tore out! im a little nervous as to the health of him

What other fish are in the tank?

That sounds like large cichlid behaviour to me. I have seen oscars and jags kill and spit alot. And mine use to try and steal anything my characins would grab.

well the only other fish in there that would do that is my oscar (10" getting old and lazy) and a G. surinamensis. the G. surinam in my presents has only eaten the flakes and pellets.there's also some catfish in there that i thought might have been the culprit, but there not really chasing the feeders as investigating

I would put my money on the oscar. Doing the chomp and spit.

As long as you remove the carcus's and don't let them mess the water quality up its not a problem.

IMO

i check the water every time i pass the room to make sure that all the fish frags are out and that all the fish are stil ok. im out of feeders so that means that i shouldn't have to worry about the carcass of feeders for another week or two.
