MY HYBRIDS BEEN WITH MY LEO FOR OVER A MONTH NOW. THEY BEEN EATING CRAWLERS AND MARKET SHRIMP LIKE PIRHANAS. ALL OF A SUDDEN A FEW DAYS AGO THE HYBRIDS AND ONE MARBLE WONT EAT THE SHRIMP AND BARELY WANT THE WORMS. ALL THEY WANT IS BLACKWORMS AND GHOST SHRIMP. WHICH THEY HAVENT EVEN SEEN IN WEEKS. LIKE 6. THEY ALSO BEEN CIRCLING THE TOP RIM OF THE TANK LIKE CRAZY POKING THE DISC OUT. ALMOST LIKE THEY TRYING TO JUMP OUT. THE LEO HASENT CHANGED A BIT. BUT THE OTHERS BEEN ACTING FUNNY. WHAT THE HELLS GOING ON?

I want the answer too. mine also dont like shrimp i bought at the market, they like blood worm very very much.

Might have internal parasites. I hope not, but when my flower got sick she quit eating what I had been feeding her and started pacing the tank walls. I don't know if she would of ate ghost shrimp because she didn't make it long enough to find out. Most rays can't resist blackworms or ghost shrimp, so that might be why they are still eating. I would prazi the tank to be safe and keep feeding what they will eat. If they are healthy then they will go back to the shrimp and earthworms.

All rays fast for periods of time, Are you using a different type of shrimp? I would not add any medications unless you identify the problem first if not your just wasting your time and money.

Something could of changed with your water as well. I would do a thorough test of it, even a chlorine check.

I've changed brands and types of shrimp before and some of them don't take to it right away either. Only feed them shrimp for a few days and see what happens.

mine also go through diff stages... i will feed very light for a day, then they r so hungry that they cant resist their normal food.

Fish are smarter than most will give them credit for. If something changes, we should be mindful of the change.

Often times swimming behavior changes can be indications of water quality or health issues. Other than the normal stuff, check your water for metal.

Diet changes can be the animal's own body telling it that is lacking in some key nutrional item, and is trying to make up for that. Natural changes in diet will occur in the wild for several reasons. Seasonal change might limit certain types of food. Other times they will load up on one or two particular ites in order to supply the body with a specific nutrient or protein that food source offers.

THANKS FOR THE INFO. THE WIERD THING IS THE LEO AINT MISSED A BEAT. NOTHING CHANGED WITH HIM. THEY ALL IN THE SAME TANK. THEY BEEN EATING THE CRAWLERS TODAY A LITTLE, BUT THEY STILL BUM RUSHING UP THE WALLS AND SPLASHING THE TOP OF THE TANK. I GUESS THEY ALRIGHT BUT IT WAS WIERD HOW THEY CHANGED SO QUICK. THESE ARE THE RAYS A BREED SO I BEEN WATCHING THEM REAL CLOSE SINCE BIRTH. MAYBE IM JUST LOOKING TO HARD AND OVER REACTING. I TURNED THE TEMP UP AND PUT SOME SALT IN JUST IN CASE. AGAIN, THANKS EVERYONE..

when in doubt do a water change..... its winter time pending on weather water company can up dose of chlorine to water.. chloramines? just keep them eating what they want for now...
