did widebar EXACTLY got banned? I heard rumor was it's hard to breed?

Can some one explain the reason why? because of this widebar is so pricey?

The fish isn't banned. You can still own them and sell them once they are out of Thailand. They just banned the exporting so that people would have no reason to continue catching this fish, as they can no longer be sold out of the country. The reason they did this was because people fished them out to sell, faster then the wild population could reproduce.

And yes the above and the fact that noone has been able to breed these guys is the reason it is expensive.

Thanks

any ideas how long these will be banned for exporting? is there any amount of time, for this is for good?

I don't believe there is any timeline. They did it to ensure the survival of the species, so I would imagine it wouln't be lifted until there is a successful breeding program. And if/when they do develope a breeding program, i would imagin the Thai gov wont lift it untill the species is fully reintroduced into the wild. So most of the Pulchers they breed the first few years would be going back into the wild.

Your looking at 10+ years at the soonest.

Speeding up the process toward extinction :D

Here goes: :P

Ban = Higher Demand
Higher Demand = Higher price
Higher Price = More Poacher
More Poacher = More Smuggling
More Smuggling = Reduce Fish Population
Reduced Population = Extinct

Unless a breeding program soon, ... else.. bye bye ^^

Very true

Its going to be a long long time. I would just put the thought of getting small pulchers out of yor head. And the big ones are going to command an even higher price.

AND BEWARE OF THE SCAM! LOTTA PEOPLE ARE DOING IT!!!

I never seen a small ST, only NTT (people claim them to be ST) 3-4", checked almost a dozen false ST supplier (Hong Kong / China / Indonesia etc etc), its alway something else when you look at the picture x.x;;;
