you mean silvers are more likely to get, other aros can get it too.

the causes of drop eye arent known, it may be trama from smashing it to the glass or it could be unused muscles in the eye to look up get slack in a aquarium(aros are supposed to be less likely to get it in a pond).

search the forum theres a big thread on it and all possible causes as well as likely hood of contracting it with species

Hmm, I've only seen silvers with it. Guess, its like what sostoudt said.

i dont know if this has anything to do with the question at hand, but i saw a pima with drop eye when i was watching river monsters. it was in an aquarium in a restaurant.

all aros can get drop eye, tends to happen to silvers more.

so far the only good explanation is that fat builds up in the head area. as the fat increases, it pushes out on the eyes.

silvers are more prone to DE compared to other species. and if you ask why, i don't know. LOL!

wow.....so they get a fat head and it makes thier eyes bug out .....lol good thing this dont happen to ppl or id ave alot of bugeyed friends.......interesting does it affect them in any way .....besides have a droppy eye

i thought it was to do with the fact that in the wild they always look up for food on the water surface whereas in the aquarium they dont have to, so like sostoudt said, its lack of using certain muscles.

but like i said lol thats just what iv heard but that doesnt explain y silvers get it more than the others lol
