ok i was wondering why in my 45g chiclid tank wht does my 2 inch fire mouth always bother my 2-inch texas im my tank are a 5-6 inch tiger o 4 inch red o a 2-3 inch bichir a 2 inche pike chiclid & a 3 inch butter fly pleco i have noticed it is very aggresive if ay thing come by its pot that it calls home but it goes out of his way to bother the texas any ideas??

It's just behaving like a cichlid. Cichlid's behaviors are unpredictable. Some, even within the same species, are aggressive and some are not. Some just choose to not like certain fish. Your Firemouth probably just feels threatened by your Texas and wants to show how tough he is.

Your tank is pretty overstocked. Your Oscars will outgrow it quickly. I suggest you at least get rid of the Oscars and the Texas. Do you know what kind of Pike you have?

nope not at all i got if from a lfs it was listed as a pike chiclid i have a spare 45g i was gonna put the o's in cuz they have gotten bigger but i got fish crazy and bought a freshwater eel that turns out to be a moray eel that needs brakish water so im cycling that for the eel so i will move the O's in a few but I Have to take care of the eel first since this tank is doing ok with all the stuff in it atm

It is a small tank and cichlids are territorial. When that texas gets bigger, then all hell will break lose. That oscar will need a 75g alone. You need at least a 150g to house those fish when full grown.

yea thanks 4 the info ill be bulding a 200+ gal tank in the summer just 4 this reason i figured id have time before the hell broke loose :)

not really those Os are going to grow an inch a month so by april will be 8-10in and way to big for that tank and moray will eventually need full marine so unless you are going to put the work (and money) into the tank to make it full saltwater then you might as well return the eel and put the two Os in the spare tank by themselves now

I think this vid answers your original question.

That will be an awsome tank. My old female texas at 6'' almost killed my 13'' oscar. She grew to 10'' and I had her in a 45g by herself. She was a very impressive fish, and extremely aggressive.
