In a van down by the river.
It seems that the majority of vendors supplying fish are located on or near the east coast. Have I just over looked all the vendors on the west coast (mainly Cali), or is that there just simply aren’t many out here?

Here is my theory: Most of the fish farms are in Florida, so supplying the east coast is very easy logistically and the fish safely arriving alive to these locations is much more probable.

Florida has ideal conditions to raise fish all year around in large open ponds where many other states just do not have enough ideal conditions to do so.

Again, just my theory.

There are plenty of Vendors on the West Coast as well...Infinite Aquatics, Ocean Blue, Big Sav Discount, and Charlie and the Fish Factory come to mind. It's also pretty easy to find lfs around here whereas I believe it's difficult for some members around the Mid East and/or Mid West areas.

You're lucky to have all of the stores you do in California! Here in IL, we have almost nothing. Those stores that do have the monster fish charge insane amounts for them. My LFS has a 3" Jardini that they are charging $120 for.

^^^I agree, but here in KY, I have never even seen a Jar for sale (or even seen one in person for that matter). The rarest fish I have ever seen around here (I think) was an ARTC that my lfs had a few weeks ago. Other than that, silver aros are the rarest freshwater fish I ever see around here, except a store in IN has had dats before (they weren't stable though). I think it is far easier to get more exotic fish on the west coast than the east coast.

wow! :WHOA: 4 inch jardinis in california are $40.

WI ain't much better.. just about everything in my tanks had to be special ordered and I had to wait weeks for it to get ordered, I am seeing more rays, cats, dats, ect in the bigger cities. But even then it's a 1 hour drive.. and only 1-2 really good stores in the cities. then your also talking heafty prices on poor quality stock usually.
