Most dragon gobies that I see are pretty much just blue but mine has this really nice metallic gold on it's face and sides, why is this? He is in brackish water by the way.

Young violet gobies have that gold tint on their face and body but they lose it in time. It becomes replaced by a more simple coloration as the fish matures.
