i have a 90 gallon tank with
3x 5-6" African Cichlids
2x Convict Cichlids
1x 5" Bullhead Catfish

i seem to be waking up to dead fish almost every other day. all the water parems are fine, and the fish look normal until they die. I do a 50% water change every week. any other info you need?
any idea whats going on.

How long has the tank been set up? What are the water conditions? Which fish are you losing?

bull heads have poisonous spines so your fish may (as most cichilds due) nibble on the catfish and end up getting pricked to death

Observe your tank and whoever is bullying other fish might be killing them at night. I have a good friend that lost 15 other chichlids one by one to an angry red zebra before we figured it out, cuz he bullied during the day and killed them at night when we were alseep.

the tank has been set up for over a year. i have been losing peacock cichlids, the cichlids i have left are 2 yellow labs, 1 female peacock, 1 female convict that is full grown and one possible male that is under an inch. i have been wondering if maybe the cons are breeding too. i saw the female fighting with a yellow lab amost two times her size. ill get exact water parems soon

I'd say two things.
Water quality is the first. The Africans, S. Americans and N. American fish all live in drastically different pH levels. Temp as well. What temp are you running?

Second: Convicts. I've lost way too many fish to breeding pairs of convicts.

Anyone else want to make bets that there are eggs somewhere in his tank?
