Hey guys I normally feed nls and massivore pellets, but am thinking about getting the 2.2LB bag of massivore. If The silver dollars are only on massivore and market shrimp, would this be okay?

You should probably supplement veg of some kind. NLS is great for them because of the varied ingredients. You could cultivate some duckweed in another tank or something. But definitely need some veg.

Thanks for the responses guys. Would feeding mini algae wafers by hikari be good?

Yes, definitely! Those are awesome for herbivores.

Honestly, it would be cheaper and more nutritious to grate bell peppers, carrots, cucumber, zucchini, etc, for them to eat.

my shoal is eating romain lettuce atm.

I have a shoal with thin barred silver dollars that I feed NLS strictly. There is a lot of vegetable matter in this food. I feed my plecos that are in the tank with the dollars fresh veggies (zucchinni and romaine leafs and sweet potatoe) about once a week. The silver dollars will not touch any of the veggies but devour NLS. You should be fine feeding the NLS only. But if you want throw a piece of romaine in once a week and see if they will take it.

A lot of "herbivorous" characins (silver dollars, Pacus, etc) will not eat vegetable matter once they get a taste for meaty foods. Some still will, but not others.

Silver dollar shoals are the best.
