Hi all

I have 8 of these ranging from 4" to 8" and allegedly all from the same batch, definitely from the same source. I have noticed that all but one of the fish have lost their thick black bars as they have grown. This can change from time to time but more often than not they almost look like they have no black bar to them at all, except one which has a lovely thick black bar (this is one of the smaller ones).
Is there any possible cause for this? Diet maybe?
I feed sinking sturgeon pellets to my rays and the wide bars lap these up. They also feed on mussel and prawn. I have just started introducing plec pellets thinking that maybe they have not been getting enough veg in their diet.
Any thoughts or experiences please people?
Thanks

Mine change regularly. I think it's more of a dominant thing. The most aggressive dollar in my tank usually has the darkest bar
Thanks for the reply. I think you are correct regards the dominance thing. It's a shame though and weird as pics I have seen of them show shoals of these fish all with nice thick black bars.

Yeah I was at my buddy's house a few nights ago and he's got a school of 10+ in his 900g and they all have nice dark defined bars. It's a sight to see
