how would you Go about widening the slot in the pic below? i want to fit an ac110 in there, it currently only fits an ac70. tank is acrylic btw.

be careful cutting on the support, I just read yesterday where someones acrylic tank started to bow after cutting a slot in the brace. I also remember reading else were about cutting the brace incorrectly causing bowing

It doesn't look like there's much of a brace.... 4"-5"? An AC110 will require a good size opening so it'll cut into your brace.... may be close! I've done it before with a router.... but you'll need to make a guide/jig for it. (I'd do it for you but wouldn't want the responsibility!)

here's a full shot of the top of that tank.

as you can see, there's only one "aftermarket" / "diy" slot cut. it measures approximately 11" wide by 1.5" deep.

do you think i will have issues w/ the tank the way it is right now?

I would only need to widen it 2.5 more inches to get an ac110 to fit. good or bad idea?
