First attempt at Discus. Ive been in hobby for quite sometime. Have always wanted to jump in with discus, was never really ready. Now Ive done my research set my parameters to that for discus and here we go. My current livestock:
group of albino cory's
pair blue mountain loaches
trio clown loaches
5 roseline barbs
pair BN plecos
...and here are my new juvies( may be stunted though).

just added these discus about an hour prior to pics.

Their eyes aren't too big they don't look stunted. Where did you get them and what strain are they? I like the blue one a lot, I would have gotten 6 six of those.

Looks good for new additions! Especially like the blue one in the last pic

Traded my RD Flowerhorn for them. When I add some more, do they need to be the same size? In regards to strains, I believe cobalt, PB, and maybe melon. I am too new to figure strains just yet. So darn confusing.

With the strains I see alot of different marketing names for the same fish. I don't have any domestics so I'm not good with the names either. Discus are cichlids frist and formost so while they enjoy each others company there is a pecking order and larger fish will bully and dominate smaller ones. The more you have the more the agression is spread out and you will be less likly to have one individual singled out and harassed too much. Three is always a tricky number should a pair form or two of them pick on the weaker fish, I like to have 5 or more. Opinions vary.

So, the cichlid theory remains even with discus. Id like to find a few more around the same size. On craigslist, there's a guy in Green Brook, NJ who has tons of juvies. I am just too new to buy some so young. Are you familiar with the guy?

No I don't know who it is.

Yes the same behavior just not the same level of agression or damage as a Dovii but the same mentality.

Thanks Tom. I may hit you up in the future for some advice.
