So I got my Jag around 6 inches in 125G for a month, last week I introduced a smaller Jags 3 inches and the big one start chased the small one around for like 3 days, last few days they dug up cave and still fight here and there and the big Jag still on the winning side. Yesterday, I came back from work and noticed the big Jag fins and tails got teared a part and body server several missing scales...Now, the small Jag beating on big one like nothing! For years I'm only see same species cichlid that the big one always beat the smaller one all the time but this time is different, the smaller one clearly a winner and claimed the big Jag cave for it own after beat the big one down like nothing. Does anyone see or have similar issue?

I'm having an issue in my 125 with a 4.5 inch Jack Dempsey chasing a 7 inch Albino Oscar around like it's no ones business lol. Only thing I can reccommend is try moving some decorations around or adding a dither or both for that matter.. I have 2 Red Hooks in my tank and the Dempsey can't keep up with them after a while and he just gets tired and leaves everyone alone. Also the re- aranging of the tank has helped. Could just be a territorial thing. Good Luck!

Well obviously the smaller one is tougher. You threw the 3incher to the wolves dropping in a tank that the other larger jag claimed. It took him a minute to get his bearings
& start fighting back.

I had a red tiger mota that would hand out serious punishment to a bigger dovii & jag in a 210. One day though the temp spiked a little & the mota couldn't fend off the 3" bigger jag/dovii fighting at the same intensity before I got home.

Yeah, I've had similar experiences.

I doubted a 3 inch grammodes that was housed with 5 inch cichlids. Learned the hard way in just one night.
Same situation with Convict cichlids, I had a female that was the smallest out of the bunch... yet, kept all the larger males on the opposite side lol

Nothing like a crazy JD. I have one that has killed 6 other fish, and still chases everything in my 125 except my RTM around. May have to get rid of it.
