I had a pair of fish that had been together for months, never had any issues seemed like they were getting along fine and suddenly the male just ripped the female to shreds over night.

I will post up a couple of pics after I load them on photobucket.

This is the first time I have ever had this happen. Was just wondering how often this kind of thing happens with others on the forum.

I have had fish eat their young as they laid a new batch of eggs. Though I have never had a male fish turn so fast on it's mate.

I do have a bigger female of the same species in my 230 so I am moving the male to that tank. Should be interesting to see what she makes of him as she is easily 2 times his size.

Interested to hear your stories on this matter

My male convict freaked out the other day an beat his mate up, she was down in one of her hiding stops with abunch of fry that looked to be biting her :nilly:

She is Healing in a 55 for now, male is with the fry... looking confused. Gonna make the 55 their new home once she is better.

What kind of fish is your wife beater chefjamesscott?:(

The sense of humor here makes me really laugh sometimes,

Ok since the male has offed the female I will include the pics from when I got them to the pics that I took today.

I got them from a petland here in town for $15/ fish. I thought they were male and female and they looked like they were mated so I bought them. Though I have no idea what they are they were very pretty.

As of today

she was fine when I was done their water change at 3pm, and when I checked on her today she was barely breathing, and her fins were shredded and a few bite marks on her face and one side.

The culprit who I am sure knows that I am not impressed that he up and whacked his mate. He was trying his best to hide under the wood in the tank.

Well I netted him and then acclimated him to the water in the 230 where his (hopefully) new lady lives. She has been trying her best to get the interest of the other fish in the 230

She is easily 2 times the size of this little guy and I am wondering if they are the same species?

He has been in the tank for about an hour or so and every time I come to check on the tank, he swims to the glass to stair at me , well fishie it's to late for that. Hopefully the lady is not to rough on ya!!!!!
