Ive always had a soft spot for Oscars but have been disappointed by how a lot of captive born Oscars turn out like as adults. This led me to order a Rapps Bumblebee Oscar (F2) which turned out to be quite a nice fish but sadly I lost it due to a bacterial infection that I couldnt cure. After losing this awesome fish I had been searching for a replacement Oscar and I had a very narrow list with another Bumblebee (Astronotus orbicularis) or maybe a crassipinnis if one could be found... when I saw these Wild ‘Columbia’ being offered by Wet Spot I started to research and liked what I saw so I decided to get 3 to grow out. The goal is to keep one to put in my 300 gallon community. This will be a record of these from 1.5” to adult.

Now for the pictures

Oscar #1

Oscar#2

Oscar #3

Typical Oscar behavior, when released into tank went to the bottom to sulk.

I was also inspired by post from Jexnell Jexnell and his posts of his Wild Columbia Oscar

Also saw this video and hope my little ones turn out like this

They're pretty babies, and even prettier as adults. I think that you're making a good choice here since many CB oscars seem a bit pug-ugly in my opinion although there are exceptions. I'm curious to see how these little monsters grow :D

Updates

The Oscar which I currently call #3 is showing some awesome patterns

Being so small they are very timid. Hard to believe how big they will get

My favorite looker so far #3

Great thread I'm subbed. I have a 12" Rio orinoco rapps Oscar and he is awesome, even their personalities are different to regular o's.

Great little ones ain't they. Are yours like Juan, master of camo? Every time I see him he is another color. Just this morn I watched him go almost completey silver/white in color. Then 5 min later he is almost all black. Chameleons have nothing on Juan.

Two of them (#2 & 3) show very distinctive patterns, while the #1 oscar which is the largest tends to look pale with pattern not real clear. But the patterns they show really does camouflage them well.
