Anyone have any pictures or videos of wild or captive aros jumping out of the water to feed on stuff that is on the brances or limbs over the water? only see one or two on the net so far, curious if others have. Ive always wanted to inclose an upper section about my 180 gallon (because it has no center glass piece the entire top is open) and add plants to train aros to leap out of the water to feed.

lol that was a nice video mistire!

dourinmaru 5 hits combo hehehe
Really though, I personally never seen a captive owned arowana jump for food in person...only heard stories and now have seen video footage....just awesome though....thing is I have a silver and I think that they can jump at least the length of their body if not more.....which would mean a VERY high tank or added confinement. Would be cool to see though....there has to be someone on MFK that has either done or tried this.

it was posted on youtube b4 i remember that black arowana i think jumping out to hit a spider from a tree, even put it on my signature once but it got moved from youtube. :(

Damn thats a pity.....:( I would kill to see a large wild arowana either eat a low flying bat or bird from the air or tree......seriously, I'd KILL...;)

wicked cool for the wilds.. but a bad habit for captives.....

i htink they are more likcly to jump out

True, but not if your are prepared for it and have a special set up designed specifically for this type of feeding....would be great exercise for the fish.

yeah... you can lower the water lvl and close off the tops when your done.... but still a risk and i prefer my monsters in my tanks ;)
I agree...I do as well.......would be cool to see other peoples set up's for jumping arowanas at feeding time.....you could make a competition out of it and have arowana jumping contests....I'd watch it....it would be an awesome sight.

"finishing off with the jar competion and now the runner up in the silver arowana jumping olympics"
