My brother caught a 10 in. long and 6 in. tall bluegill from a small lake called Rancho Seco. The bluegill is the biggest I've seen in person and I brought it home and I'm trying to keep it alive. It's in a tank with some other bluegill, carp, and baby bass. I try to feed it some blood worms and red worms but all the other fish get to it first. Even when I put a small feeder fish in the bass attempt to swallow the feeder even though the feeder is half the size of themselves. My brother caught the bluegill on a fly fishing bait. What can I do to make sure he is well fed? Any good fish food or insects that will satisfy his appetite?

wait it out...the blue gill is adjusting to his new home. give it some time and he'll be eating in a matter of days.

crickets might work to

If they know how to eat from the surface, then crickets would work. however, just make sure that he actually eats it because if it climbs up some airline tubing or the filter intake tube on the outside or something, it might get loose in your house.

Crickets don't sink! They have a lot of airspaces in their body. They will only sink after being waterlogged for a long time.

hell come around just give him time

those things are tough i just threw a 2 inch one from my pond into one of my comunity tanks and he is doing perfect eating flakes.
