Are wild caught bichirs more skittish toward humans standing in front of the tank? I have delhezi, senegals, polli palmas, buettikoferi palmas, and palmas palmas. The new wild caught delhezi get all crazy whenever I go in front of the tank. Then all the other bichirs react by going nuts in the tank.

I think so man, at least at first they will.

Give them a few months and they should adjust.

I hate when one damn poly freaks and sends the others crashing around the tank :irked:

I think so too. It had bad experience first contact with human. LOL

havent had that kind of response just got a wild caught baby today only 3-4 in and it comes right to the front of the tank when you come near

yeah i hate it when one freaks, it sets off the whole tank, and since this happens in every single of my tank, i've come to conclude that bichirs are generally skittish, rightly so or not, i don't care :D all i know is i hate that. it's especially worse if the tank's on wooden floor, and they can sense the vibration. on concrete, they do better.

that is right infblue they do since vibration on wooden floors and it sets the whole tank off I have vary big wild cought Poly,s and they loose there mind when startled. dark room dim light vary vary little or know traffic and know kids and hiding places .

Try to do this..

Once you get them in...leave everything dark.

For the next week or two, before you enter the room, turn the lights on but DO not enter the room for about 1-2 minutes.

After about a week or two, they should adjust very well with room being lit.

Then you gradually turn the lights on then enter the room to feed them.

After a few weeks, I guarantee you that all of them will start swimming towarsd you when you enter..

All my bichirs comes out the hiding as soon a the tank lights is on..
