Si I asked Rapps what separates a Wild BB from captive and he sent me these pics. I wanted a wild, as I thought maybe they would look better or more interesting, but they somehow look worse, but cost more. Go figure. What you guys think? Top Pic, wild, bottom, would be store bought or captive.

im sure that wild ones would have some pretty descent colours that one in the first pic of rapps is probably stressed out which is probably why it is lacking colour. i expect if you got a wild one and kept it happy, itd have some every nice colours too.

i think it was a pic of immature wild one compared to mature older raised in aquaria one.. these BB's take along time to look really good..at least it is taking my BB's a long time.. And they are close to 5 inches ..

Thank you... i hope so!!:D

Rapps generally takes pictures of his wild fish right as they arrive at his hatchery, so the top picture is an ultra-stressed wild blackbelt. I'm sure it will develop colors twice as good as the bottom fish as it settles in and matures.

Member cchhcc has a large wild male black belt. Amazing looking.

As posted, it's a photo of a stressed vs. a non-stressed fish; and black belts show a lot of diversity to begin with.

I recently gave a wild pair of Lake Nic BB's to a friend. They look just fine now, but weren't much when I first got them. Keep in mind how much they've been through on the way to our tanks!

Here's a couple of shots of wild BB's:

This one was wild caught from Costa Rica.

This one was wild caught in Hong Kong.

I prefer the first one. :naughty:
