Recently while enjoying a brew by a local creek, I see a blue flash skuddle under a rock quick. My shirt and shoes are off and im diving in headfirst before I even had time to put my cig out.
Well, after about a 20 minute dual with these blokes, and a couple painful pinches later, I managed to fish two out and get them in my cooler.
Needless to say, they made themselves right at home in my tank.
I was concerned they would become a quicks snack for my cichlids, but after seeing their demeanor was something to be admired, I became more worried about my fish. HIGHLY AGGRESSIVE! Anything that touches their antenna they attack.
I was quite suprised by that kahoonas and climbing ability of these guys. They are always active as well. Really a great addition.
*Video coming soon. Shows how fiesty they get. Youtube processig now.
Enjoy some pictures for now :D

1. Its an invasive specie. (Im doing my part) :D
2. There were literally 1000's of them.
3. Water had an oil sheen to it.
4. They were covered in parasites.
5. In a city stream AFTER the septic plant.
6. There are 100's of F0 owners on here.

These guys have it made now. Fresh foods everyday. No more parasites. Crystal clear warm waters. 0 predators. Huge cave build just for them. They may not know it, but most crawdads would sell their souls to be in these guys shoes(pincers).

i love my crawdads, i have several. but im worried about the same thing. i have three large ones in with my big sa cichlids. i have some bigger silver dollars and bala sharks in there as dithers. they have not hurt a fish before but it makes me nervous. i keep my baby crays in my baby grow out tanks as well. im hoping they live together in harmony. i wouldn't want to have to feed them to my snapping turtle.

what i do is feed the crays before i go to bed. which for me is late but just at night in general because thats when they are out hunting for food. i feed mine sinking shrimp pellets when in the caves because i can drop them at the entrance and they will come grab them. it they are out ill give them blood worms and whatever else they will grab. they are awesome in tanks and id love to have some blue ones. they are like 30 a piece around here. but i wish you luck and congrats on your catch!

yea that and more then half the fish people keep here:)

I pulled 2 crays out of the Delaware river over by PA. I did the same and put them in my cichlid tank. My Jack Dempsey tried eating one twice, but spit it out both times. I then read up on crays a bit and was afraid the crays would end up going at my JD, so I pulled them out and put them into their own tank.

I was also amazed how interesting they are to watch. They're great feeders and easy to take care of. They even have different personalities. My little cray chases the larger cray very aggressively, whereas the large cray wants no confrontation.

Good luck with them!

mine kept grabbing my oscars fin and the gimpy one with one claw that i felt bad for is chasing my green terror around shaking his claw like an angry old man lol. i wonder if i could put them in the tank with my baby red ear sliders. they are goldfish killing machines but i dont think they would eat my crays. i guess only one way to find out. im going to wait untill their new filter is good and cycled before i add anything else. so i dont cause a mini cycle but once im sure the tank is not going to spike we will see.. anyone think thats a bad idea?

That is awsome, he's cool. Very active.
