when i was at my friends house there were about 8 12-18 inches long in a 50 gallon when i looked closely they have no spots at all .they were caught in the river. i will post some pics on wednesday

They can be either Spotless CKs or Chitala Lopis. Those guys are definitely too big for a 50g tank at that size. Hope your friend has other plans for them.

Nice job! I wanna see some pics too.

it was my friends fathers fish. i will post pics on wednesday.be patient

btw whta is chitala lopis?

C. Lopis aka Mekong Knife Fish is the largest of the Chitala species being said to reach 4' and I've even read 5' C. Lopis can be distinguished by a black spot at the base of it's pectoral fins.

how in the world did he get 8 12-18 inches fish to fit in a 50g???? is that even physically possible? what is he thinking????

i agree it would be cool to see pics of them.to the part of 8 12-18 in a 55gal i cant help but think soon as one goes to the bathroom someone wont have room in the tank and is gona be pushed out.

It is possible, but I bet they are very very cramped. There is bound to be problems between them as well. Knifefish can get pretty aggressive if kept with more knifefish...especially knifefish that are of the same specie.

They're most likely Chitala Lopis or Notopterus Chitala...I think they are more likely just Notopterus Chitala...
