What kind of growth do you guys get from your Wild Caught Endlicheri?
My Black Volta has only seem to have grown about 1"-1.5" since I got him in late November. It's in a 75 gallon with 6 other bichirs, 1 Indo Dat, and 6 SD's. Weekly 50% water changes. Feeds on market shrimp and Tilapia still won't eat pellets unfortunately. I have heard stories of some endlis growth rates being on par with an ornates. I have personally had an ornate go from 2.5" to 15" in a year so don't know what I'm doing wrong per say.
Any advice would help.

I would not think you are doing anything wrong, do the SD let your black Volta get enough to eat? At 4 months you should be seeing more growth then you are seeing.

The SD sure are pigs that for sure. Maybe I should but, them in the 180.
Still seems to stuff it's belly when offered food. I feed them about 3-4 time a week.

Idk man that seems awefully slow to me. My wild endlies in the past grew like weeds. I've got a feeling mike is right. Those $$'s are bottomless pits come feeding time.

It's quite ridiculous how much they eat.I'm gonna move them and, see if I get any different progress.

Just curious but was your ornate in a 75 gal as well?

Your situation is similar to mine. I got my wild caught endi around Nov at less than 4". It only grew not even an inch by mid January. I increased my water changes from 50% to 80% since and it's now at 6.5". So I might try more frequent or larger water changes.

I also tried feed more market fish, but the endi is the only poly that prefers pellets more. It may take a small piece of market fish but fills up mostly on pellets.

BTW what are SD?

The Ornate started in a 20 long then went to the 75" till about 9" or so then to 180.
SD is Silver Dollars

So I've moved the SD haven't noticed anything. It seems to just not be interested in eating or at least gorging itself. I've got a delhezi that I purchased at the same time and, is got some decent girth compared to it. Maybe trying more food variety would help intrigue the appetite more. Thoughts?

yeah a variety of food would be better and like stated above massivore is usually a cure for growth problems. At least it is for me. If your up to it I would buy a 40b or something and put him in there and try and do more water changes, get him on pellets, feed him more, and have some amazing filtration. I would do that so that you could try and 1) get him on pellets, because it'll be easier to get him on pellets when he's isolated than if he can't find them in a mass swarm of fish feeding. and 2) trying to see what he's lacking to grow. He may just be a slow-grower which is very uncommon for LJ's that size.
