Canada... i wish.
can they be caught and be put in a tank? i might be going fishing soon for rock bass and what not and i wanted to know if the fish could be put into a home aquarium.

Is the rock bass a salt water fish?If it is you should be able to,but here we need permits to collect certain freshwater fish.

im glad you ask, there is a section on mfk called "Cold Water, Temperate, and North American Native Fishes" dedicated to this style of fish keeping.

i am a proud owner of a bluegill (sunfish). lots of native fish are able to be kept in captivity: sunfish( that includes bass), perch, and catfish as well as darters and shiners

and yes, rock bass are able to be kept in aquariums, just try to get a young one so that its easier to convert to pelleted food. im getting a rock bass too when the lakes unfreeze :D

What is your tank size?

Check fish and game regulations first. From what I've heard NV is pretty permissive, but you want to be sure you're on the right side of the law. If you can't find the applicable rules online try calling the state fish and game office (don't bother with email, it's too easy for it to get 'lost').

Also remember that it is unethical and illegal to return fish to the wild after they have been in captivity. If you bring a fish home, be prepared to keep it for life, or else euthanize it.

I'm not trying to discourage you; keeping natives is a great hobby and I hope you have lots of fun with it! I just want to be sure you're prepared.
