Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I have recently purchased a 6 year old mated pair of wild caught jaguars from Costa Rica.
They are in a 140 gallon acrylic tank, with a Fluval FX4 canister filter. The tank is bare bottom, with nothing in the tank besides a large clay pot.
I have never attempted to breed any of my fish, but I have a 8 tanks total. The Jaguars came from a very overstocked, and dirty tank... They are now in a 140 acrylic that stays very clean. I do around 40 percent water changes every 4 to 5 days.
Where do I start with these jags? The female is almost 10 inches, and the male is closer to 11 inches. They have been getting after each other pretty frequently, and I am noticing more and more superficial wounds every day.

Keep a divider on hand, the move might have caused the pair to split and you might have to do the reintroduction process all over again. 11 inches is small for a 6 year old male jag, poor guy may be stunted.

I used to have a mated pair of wild caught Jags.I got them from Jeff Rapps. My male was about 10 inches, female about 9 inches. When they laid eggs they took very good care of them.Female took over when eggs hatched.Actually chased the male away from the fry.Baby Jags from my pair were very healthy.I sold most of them to my local fish store.A divider, floating plants or some other places for the female to hid in is a good idea.Soon after my fry were free swimming male wanted to mate again, but you could tell female just wasn't ready. He chased her a lot.I finally had to get a divider just to protect her.

divider a must, keep them apart except for spawning, male will beat the pee out of the female if she is not ready. he is always ready.

my WC pair where from Honduras and niqu. you like tool crank it up.
