I caught a 1 inch hatchling at a lake I frequently visit. At this lake, I have never seen a painted turtle. The little guy was washed on a rock on the bank because of extremely high tide caused by Memorial Day boaters and jet skiers. I'm too lazy to post pics, but will do so if asked...

I personally believe destiny brought him to me. I have never seen a painted turtle at this lake, except this hatchling. High tide washed this fellow on the bank. I personally do not believe he would have lived because he has a broken or deformed front left leg. I believe it was broken by another turtle or a predator because he is missing a small portion of his shell directly above the damaged leg. He swims descently compared to my 2 inch ybsXres cross. They are happily living together in a 10 gallon well filtered with UVB until I get money to buy the stock tank(Have already DIY'ed the filter and bought sand).

Sorry for bad grammar and punctuation. 3 days at the lake and I am way too pooped to spell check.

How did I know that MFK'ers would want pics???:grinno:

The painted with my ybsXres...

i'd watch out for aggression from the hybrid. he is quite a bit bigger, and looks like he could do quite a bit of damage. just be careful

That is a very valid concern, but considering the tank is on my desk in the office, where I am 4-8 hours or so a day, so I am not worried. So far, I have witnessed no agression.

Also you should have put your new turt on quarantine to see if she´s healty, to make shure she´s eating well and to get a litle growth out of her before introdussing her to your slider. I quarantine all my turts for at least 2 weeks before bringin them together. Other wise shes a fine young turt:popcorn:
