Hi in June, I will be getting discus to go in my 125 gallon. I am going to add driftwood and plants. I was wondering if I can add a few festivums and some Congo tetras, and maybe clown loaches in with them. I plan on using a canister filter along with the 2 hob filters on it already. Thoughts?

I know alot of people with clowns with their discus and personaly id go with lemon or rumy nose tetras instead of congo tetras but your idea should work

I wouldn't do the loaches if it was me. Discus like to graze at a slow pace when they feed and IMO the loaches would be too disruptive and stressful for the Discus. The festivum shouldn't pay too much attention to the Discus as long as you have about 5 of them look for one of the smaller species like Mesonauta mirificus. One Festavum could be a holy terror. As far as tetras go I would stick to the Rummy Nose if they are available, any of the warmer water species of tetra would work. The Congo tetras would be out of place to me in a SA st up.

I'll scrath the loaches then. Can I do 3 festivums? I want to add 2 of my peru altums with them. And what kind of tetras come from SA so I can make this a SA biotype.

You can do some dwarf cichlids like the rams or any of the apistos...a nice school of tetras would look good too

3 festivum could work but if tow pair up the third might get harrased too much. That's why I like 5 any argession is spread around and no ne fish has to take the brunt. A pair of wild peruvian scalar whould ok with the discus but just watch out if the Angle fish start to bully the discus or prevent them from eating. A mated pair of angelfish will have the discus stressed and huddled into a corner. The dynamic has to be balanced and watched carfully, non species specific discus tanks can be tough to get right if they are not the dominant fish in the tank or have too much compatition for food they will fade.

If this is for the tank in your signature, a 75gallon is not large enough for festivum, 2 angels and a group of discus. Since you already have the angels, maybe leave off the festivum.

In the original post OP stated the fish will be housed in a 125.
