Ive decided to put together somewhat of a progression thread for my festae colony. I will be using this thread to update my videos for the colony untill i pull pairs out and then those will be separate. This is a 180g with 6 wild festae, looks like 3 males and 3 female. I have one nice alpha male in the tank that looks to be courting 2 maybe all 3 of the females. the larger male is 5.5" maybe 6" the females are 4.5" and the others are 4" give or take. ther is also 1 male dovii. Im hoping to get at least 2 pairs of festae out of this group and the F1 male i pulled out last week. thanks for looking:)

Awesome project bro! Your ahead of me a few inches. I was just considering picking up a school of CL's for mine and growing them out since both are such slow growers.

I've had problems with clown loaches eating eggs as soon as they drop they are so fast and tough that the big cichlids can't fight them off fast enuff. It was heart breaking in my experience! They seemed opportunistic feeders and were VERY persistent!

man looking good i just picked up 14 f1 from umbeeking any advice they are ranging from 1.5 to 3 in and great color so far. I hape to have what you do in 6 months.

Thank you Justin:) and that is the same reason why i picked up these CL's, so far so good with them and im only going to keep them with my growout groups and community set up's. I wont keep them with and breeding pairs for the same reason freebyrd mentioned. but it keeps the action goin in the tank:)

Thanks bro:) yeah i think at around Christmas or the new year you should have some beautiful pairs yourself:) the only advice i can say is keep them in the largest tank you can while theyre in a group otherwise have a couple of spare tanks handy for when the aggression picks up and you need to remove a couple from time to time:) good luck tho.

Awesome....looks like everyone is all paired up as you said. Those fry are going to look good.

Thank you Dwayne:) you should get some pics or videos up of the ones you have too... you have a very nice group yourself, sometimes i kick myself in the butt for letting them go;)

nice bro
their growing nicely

Thank you bro:)

Your festaes are amazing! Can't wait to see how the project turns out.

Thank you. this is one of my favorite parts of growing out festae... sometimes i wish i had enough tanks to grow out different stages of festeae just to get to this stage all the time;)
