I live in Central Florida but I am curious what types of fish are in the area that could legally be obtained from the wild. I'm also curious about what types of plants could be introduced to a planted tank that might add some character. This is mainly out of curiosity (I'm not sure I would ever want to place wild caught/wild planted in my tank) thanks

Oscars! And more Oscars. And you might even find an Oscar.

There are a lot of Florida natives, actually. I just don't know about them. :) Peacock Bass...

take some hydrilla out of lake toho so next time i go fishing theres a little less in my way.

the stuff that sits on the top and is everywhere.... yes thats it. you could put that in and have a tank full in a week but you would just have to trim it. it will grow for you.

thx smootheye..... seems like its too much trouble for what its worth for me anyway, but cool to know

Plenty of nice looking sunfish in florida that are worth a try, also some small killies and livebearers for smaller tanks are worth a look at. Some of the white and black gambusia are pretty attractive fish imo

i would definately go for some killi...... i don't know anything about them though. do they need to be kept with their own kind alone like cichlids? are they semi-aggressive?

certain killi's can be kept with african cichlids
