So I've got some pumpkinseeds I caught in the local pond the other day, they are currently in their own tank for quarantine but I'm unsure if I should treat them with anything in case they have any parasites or other nasties before adding them to general population. What do you guys do? Observe for a few weeks and watch for stuff? premptivly treat? If so with what?
Thanks,
Ravio11i

Looking it says formalin is not effective against internal parasites at all...is this a problem? anyone else care to chime in? Rav

add salt like 3grams/liter and watch the fish their behavure for 4weeks,when you noticed nothing strange, you could at them to the tank.

That sounds like a lot of salt for a freshwater fish, almost a pound for my 30 gallon tank?

Thats the way I treat my feeders, you need to build the saltgrade up slowly.

do notice, when you notice somethin strange on the fish in behaviour or appearance, you should trhow it back where it came from.
for the savety of your own fish.

you could do a standard course of anti-parasite treatments (jungle parasite clear or API general cure) . . . it shouldn't do any harm, and it could be a good safety precaution . . .
