Canada... i wish.
well i was at willow beach, arizona yesturday and i saw A LOT of fish fry. i was wondering if it was possible to catch the fry and raise em myself in a tank.

Some states have laws pertaining to the collecting of certain species. And others have size requirements. And if this were the case and you got caught with protected species they will fine you for each specimen.

But for your question, yes you can. But it is more demanding taking care of wild fry than captive bred.

Because all fry are very fragile and these fry will need to be caught with a net, then driven home in a bucket, then acclimated to water they have never touched before, and then trained to eat foods they have never seen before. And any one of these things could kill them.

I would not expect them to eat flakes or other aquarium fish food right off. They would more than likely need live brine shrimp every few hours. And depending on species a good supply of green water and other algae.

But it can be done with enough dedication.----good luck

sweet its most likely bass or trout fry so i'll give it a shot when i get the chance

the bass would be one of the illegal speacies he was talking about they can only be taen by hook and line and im not sure about trout but if they are trout then there going to be harded to take care of causethey need cold water and that come wth a chiller and they need alot of current

Many people keep bass, and i am not sure if they get them illegally or not. I have one that I got from a freind. But trout are a big time no no in my state.

i quess i could have said that differently it legal to keep bass if taken by hook and line and if it is a certian lenght if AZ or the lake has a limit on it

no nets or traps

yeah ima check the fish laws for arizona and nevada, just in case if what ima do is legal or not lol. would there be anyway to identify the fish while its still a fry?
