Wild In Peru-ID?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My first thought is Z. zungaro also but these colors are wild. I've never seen them with yellow base and reddish fins.

I'd post on Planet Catfish too.

Def. all zungaro zungaro aka "jau".... pretty sure theres another thread floatin around with another good pic of an "albino jau" that looks yellow like these pictured specimen. Ill try to find it on FB...You can see the reg colors scattered about on them as if there Xanthic esp in the faces. My other guess would be theres color variations similiar to our north american flathead catfish where some are yellow and very attractive while others are dark brown. Id almost lean towards xanthic with the strong yellow/red hues. Sure would love to own one of these "light based" jau :)

Thank you for the responses. The local name is dorado. I really like the yellow specimens!
