I've never seen any captive bred reds wit this body shape but I've seen many wild ones look the same when first imported. again, just a guess.

that shape that they have is just caused by them being a little thin... unless they have been sitting at the vendor for awhile, i would say those are captive bred... fins look too nice for wild caught

I emailed G to find out rather the reds in that tank is wild or captive bred.
He also has an other tank full or rbps next to this one and the reds are about the same size but body shape, color are complete different between them.
hope G will get back to me soon :)

if they are wild caught, they have some great lookin fins

wait a minute... isn't george gone for another week? or do i have my dates messed up? i thought he left last week and was gonna be gone for two weeks...

this one I picked has the best color and fins, but let's see what g says.
he came back early, I saw him at the store today and I was like shouldn't he still be in Peru for one more week? one of his employees told me that he just came back this morning and called one of the worker there to pick him up from the airport.

Hi Jack.

As I posted in your thread at Pfury, it is hard to determine if a RBP is wild caught or tank bred, at least it is for me, they almos look the same to me.

I guees not few vendors claim their P's are wild caught to improve their sales, that wouldn't surprise me.

Cheers.

i was correct, they are wild :)
G just emailed me back and I quote : They came in wild (and are quite rare as they are from Ecuador!)
I might pick up a few more then if I can get this guy's eyes to heal.
added some salt so hope it'll get better soon.

besides it being a little thin, thats one of the healthiest looking fresh imports that i've seen

thanks Joe.
they also got some white thing on the eye, maybe cloud eye or something. hard to see in the pix.
According to G and I quote: they were grossly overpacked, and I believe the eyes were damaged due to lack of oxygen. They are much better than they were, and hopefully healing.

if I manage to get them to heal up then I might go pick up couple more..will see.
