hi all, i bought a lovely supposedly Columbian wild caught oscar last weekend, he has that lovely olive colour and is generally a little dude but too my disappointment i realised he has a what seems to be a slight fin deformity on his anal fin... he came from a very very reputable place which i wont name, probably one of the best in the uk! they had several others that had parts of their fins seemingly deformed, some with their top fin seemingly missing the softer parts in between the rays. my little guy has the back 1/5th of his anal fin missing with the very last piece (sevaral rays) past the missing part still attached curled up his tail in a little curl? i will get a pic in a bit... im still happy with him although i would have prefered the lfs to point it out before i purchased him.
could they have been damaged in transport by fin rot and not repaired properly, does that ever happen?? or maybe caused in the wild by other fish... either way its my own fault for not checking him properly. i really would expect this guy at the lfs to miss sell anything as wild if it werent but on the same note assumed deformitys were caused by in breeding?
