The guy selling them is a pleb I quote from my email from him:
Part 1:
wild caught are worth a hell of a lot more than tank bred.
i know, i have been in aquatics for 30 years.
and i am fully licenced.
the prices are silly.. your right...
but thast the price of what she was given for a 4" f1 leo.
the reason why tank bred are so much is because the wild caught ones
are banned from export.
hence why they are rare.. and can charge what you want on them.
to have wild caught...
well the price in effect technically increases more due to the fact of it
being fresh bloodlines and not deformatory from interbreeding.
and the fact its wild caught. not tank bred.
Part 2:
becuase the ban was partially lifted for 2009.
the quota went very fast and is now ended until next year.
most have which have gone to asia...
to come back here at 3 times the price...
and just to let you know...
3 hybrid rays *i.e henlei x leopoldi at 4" will cost you £5000 from asia.
she has relatives who live in brazil who work in the fish industry,
and she was lucky enough to get them from her within their quota.
i think there is a couple of eclipse and diamond rays as well she has..
but they are expensive.
wc rays you dont see cos of the ban... which you will already know..
hence why you dont see the prices.
wc are worth a hell of a lot more than tank bred and always will be.

the dutch cannot get wc, they are supplied by asia.
hence the stupidly ridiculous prices..
and just to let you know...
i am the cheapest on the net in the uk for aquaria.
i import from the four corners of the globe,
and sell to just as many, if not more.
i dont want to get into an argument with you about this.
i have no need to,
i know for a fact i am right.
been in the game too long....
and if you recall a few years back...
same thing happened with the l046 zebra plec.
*although there is no quota for these as yet... already asked.

i have a lot of response about aquaria i put up for sale.
i dont have much in... because it is always sold before
i get it back to base if imported. as most is made to order.
im sorry if i didnt get back to you about a particular ray.
a lot of mail goes in spam folder and isnt seen until later.
the usa dont pay less than we do for rays at all,
they just take the piss and sell them for stupid prices..
such as $3500 for a 10" leopoldi
if they are in brazil on the open markets they get at same
price as we do.
the problem is with asia. as they pay more just to secure
the rays.
you must also understand...
uk 65 million
usa 300 million
asia 3 billion
populations...
over in asia, its totally different ball game...
plus they keep the rays at 7.5 ph... *pillocks.
the market over there is huge compared to uk...
everyone says they have the money...
but when it comes to the crunch... do they...???
and what kinda money do you say you have?

I have these same exact pictures from exporter I have attached one LOL and best part about it is when you open the file of pictures they were taken 2/2008 lol almost 9 months ago these are fake pictures and guy is a MORON. Here we go with all the clowns trying to sell rays let the fun begin.
